Welcome to Invisible Women: The Podcast and thank you for listening to these courageous women’s stories.

I wanted to create this podcast so that you may hear these war time reflections from women who were invited to step outside of the authoritarian societal expectations of the day – into previously unsanctioned work. The chaos of war invites an opening and magnification of cultural norms and it is through this window that we can more easily investigate cultural shadow.

War is harrowing and spying, dangerous as these narratives attest yet all women stated that the espionage was thrilling – the independence, decision making, adventuresomeness, and more. They also commented that their roles as spies seemed invisible to the enemy — they just blended in. I’ll be discussing how individual/cultural shadow, projection from the enemy and our historical/present cultural lenses apply to women today. I hope you will join me.
