To do their job well, code breakers usually have different ways of perceiving and solving puzzles than most of us. The UK’s Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) is consistently looking for women and men who analyze problems creatively; they value individuals and ways of thinking that are outside the cultural box.

This year they are tempting us with a Christmas cracker puzzler. You may have a unique ability or a practiced skill set — either way, solve it and you may find yourself in the exciting world of shifting codes and ciphers.
